Our school is an allergy-aware space. For complete details please refer to our Allergy-Aware Policy
Our current policy is that nuts, or any food containing
them, are not permitted inside the school.
The co-op adopted this policy for the protection of students who suffer
severe life-threatening allergic reactions to these foods.
To ensure no one brings nuts to the school, parents are educated about the risk to allergic children on orientation night in September, before children begin attending classes. Parents are advised about the importance of reading labels on packaged food to ensure they do not accidentally pack unsafe food for their children. In addition, the ECE does not permit snack-sharing during snack time, and all sharing day parents supervise snack time to watch that the food being unwrapped does not contain any nuts.
The school also includes the words "nut free space" on all of its advertising, and has signs posted regarding the policy on both outside doors to ensure no one brings nuts into the preschool. Despite these precautions, we recognize that is impossible to guarentee that no allergens will ever enter the preschool.
If you have any concerns or questions about nut allergies, or any other allergies or medical conditions, please contact the ECE by calling the school at 250-474-3011.
