Learning Through Play

Childhood play lays the foundations for skills in problem solving, social interaction, and creativity. Children at Goldstream Co-op Preschool are encouraged to "Learn Through Play," a model that allows for social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. They are gently guided as they master the skills needed to move onto Kindergarten with confidence and high self-esteem. Children are directed with positive encouragement and supported in achieving self-help skills to foster independence.

Working Together, Sharing Together

Co-op preschools are parent-owned and operated, giving you a direct say in your child's early education. Parents typically help our ECE (Early Childhood Educator) about once a month in the classroom during their "Sharing Day". Parents also take a role in running the school with jobs as varied as caring for the classroom fish tank to being president of the co-op. Parents attend monthly meetings where they benefit from parent education talks by experts in the field, and vote on school business. To keep the programs affordable, parents are involved in four fundraisers a year.

Programs

We offer two and three day programs for children ages two-and-a-half to five (children must be three by December 31^st of the school year in which they are registering). Options include morning or afternoon sessions in a 10-month calendar that follows the public school system (September to June)
